Better homes begin with good knowledge.
DOM NA START, fundacja is a Polish non-profit foundation registered in the National Court Register (KRS) under number 0001161825, with its registered office in Gdańsk, Poland. We work to advance ecological, energy-efficient and passive timber construction, combining scientific knowledge, design and construction practice, and open educational resources.
The Foundation exists to make responsible timber construction the normal choice in Poland — by making reliable, independent knowledge freely available to the people who design, build, commission and study buildings.
Timber can be a durable, renewable and efficiently used building material. Using it responsibly, however, requires knowledge of raw-material quality, building physics, design requirements and the realities of construction. That knowledge is scattered, often commercial, and rarely written for the person who actually has to make the decision. We collect it, verify it and publish it openly — with no registration and no paywall.
We focus on timber-frame construction, material quality, building physics and modular prefabrication. Alongside educational work we run applied research, and we describe our working methodology publicly so that our conclusions can be checked.
The Foundation is apolitical and not affiliated with any religious denomination. It pursues its objectives in accordance with Polish law, the Act on Foundations of 6 April 1984 and its own Statute. All income is applied to its statutory activity.
Solutions for homes with low energy demand.
Building physics, comfort of use and quality of execution.
Timber-frame construction, wood quality and durability of solutions.
Modular design and fabrication processes.
Detailed, referenced write-ups on wall assembly layers and moisture management, strength grading of structural timber, prefabrication of wall panels, and building airtightness with the Blower Door test. No registration, no login.
Published in Polish.
A research project on how language models combined with parametric models, expert knowledge and deterministic calculation can support the design of prefabricated timber wall panels — improving material efficiency and reducing waste and carbon footprint while meeting structural, thermal, moisture and buildability requirements.
